One action in Jira now creates what SAP Solution Manager needs, so developers move from planning to ABAP development without typing the same story twice.

Context
AirPlus is a global payments and travel services company operating in a fast-moving agile delivery environment.
Development teams planned and tracked their work in Jira, while SAP Solution Manager (Focused Build) served as the governance backbone for transport management.

The challenge
The two systems operated as completely disconnected worlds. User stories had to be manually recreated as Work Packages and Work Items in Solution Manager, introducing delays and inconsistencies at every handover.
Developers had no visibility into SAP delivery status, and repeated administrative effort consumed significant delivery capacity.

A custom Jira–Solution Manager integration
Codemine designed and implemented an integration between Jira and SAP Solution Manager based on a REST service on the SAP side.

Work Packages and Work Items from one action
A single action in Jira creates the Work Package and Work Items in Solution Manager and pre-fills them, instead of recreating each story by hand.

Aligned with internal processes
The created objects are standardised and follow AirPlus delivery rules, so they are immediately ready for ABAP development.

Clear roles for each system
Solution Manager remained the governance backbone and Jira remained the execution layer. Governance became embedded in the daily workflow, not enforced on top of it.
